CONSTANTINE

Constantine is known as the city of the bridges because it is linked between the gorges by multiple bridges, it was built on a rock of more than 600 meters of altitude and surrounded by deep ravine that is crossed by Rhummel river which gave the city a new aspect that looks like a citadel. It is the third largest city in the country after Algiers and Oran. There are museums and important historical sites around the city, the most beautiful one is the ottoman palace of Ahmed Bey, in the casbah and the archeological museum of Cirta. You can also roam around the old city that was left intact by the French for the indigenous population, it  has a well preserved architecture with alleyway streets. As you walk through the city you can also see multiple bridges from different angles as well as the monument to the dead dedicated to the martyrs of the first world war.
